A 33-year-old man identified as Imoleayo Adekoya, was detained by men from the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a 27-year-old lady.
NEWSNAIJA gathered that the allegedly dragged the victim to a remote location and raped her after accusing her of not greeting him.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, made this known in a statement on Sunday.
According to the PPRO the culprit was arrested on Saturday after the victim filed a report at the Sakora divisional police headquarters in Sagamu.
He said, the lady stated that she was harassed by the suspect while she was leaving the Ipoji area of Sagamu, accusing her of not greeting him.
“She further added that she tendered an apology to him not to be annoyed, that it was because she didn’t know him,” Oyeyemi continued.
In spite she screams and struggles, the man jumped on her and began punching her and dragging her to the back of his house, where he aggressively tore her clothes and had sex with her.
“Following the report, CSP Rowland Dahunsi, DPO Sakora division, detailed his detectives to accompany the victim, who was accompanied to the station by her father, to the spot, where the suspect, who was identified by the victim, was arrested with the help of the witnesses.
“During questioning, the suspect admitted to the crime but claimed that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time. The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment and a medical examination.”
According to the PPRO, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the suspect’s immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
