On Thursday, the Nigerian Navy newest Landing Ship Tank (NNS KADA) arrived in Al Duqum, Oman, on the first leg of her homeward voyage to Nigeria.
Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, Director of Information, Naval Headquarters, made the announcement on Thursday in Abuja.
According to him, the ship’s visit to Oman was the first by a Nigerian Navy ship.
According to reports, the Nigerian Navy recently received NNS KADA from the Albwardy Damen Shipyard in Sharjah, UAE.
In addition, the ship was designed to be a replacement for the decommissioned NNS AMBE and NNS OFIOM.
“During the port call in Oman, the Commanding Officer NNS KADA, Capt. Reginald Adoki, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Duqum Naval Unit, Capt. Badr Saidi.
“The visit opened a vista for enhanced military relations between Nigeria and Oman.”

Saidi expressed gratitude for the visit, therefore announcing that an Omani sailing vessel would embark on a two-year flag tour to Nigeria and West Africa for the first time.
Other activities on board the ship included a novelty football game, a volleyball match, and a cocktail.
In continuation of her maiden voyage, NNS KADA’s next port of call would be Mombasa, Kenya, he said.
The director therefore expressed confidence that the addition of NNS KADA to the Nigerian Navy fleet would play a critical role in troop sealift and maritime crisis management.
“Especially in conveying relief materials within the nation’s waterways, thereby contributing significantly to the promotion of humanitarian assistance within West Africa and beyond,” the statement added.
