
Nigerian-born data analyst appointed as board member of UK AI centre
Abel Aboh, a Nigerian-born British data management lead at the Bank of England, has been appointed to the board of the Data Lab Scotland, a major data and artificial intelligence innovation center in Scotland, United Kingdom.
Aboh is one of 20 new board members appointed to supervise the centre’s Governance, Innovation, and Education Advisory Boards for a three-year term.
The Lab’s aim is to help Scotland maximize the value of data and lead the world to a data-powered future.
The Data Lab’s Chief Executive Officer, Brian Hills, stated, “We were overwhelmed by the volume and quality of applications for our boards; a true testament to The Data Lab’s reputation and Scottish data and AI innovation.”
“The newly appointed board members bring an exceptional range of skills and perspectives from industry, academia, and government as we pursue our vision of building the world’s most influential data and AI community.”
Aboh is a professional data and technology influencer with experience in global financial services, defense, airline, and sports.
In 2021, Aboh was named a finalist for the prestigious British Data Awards, Data Leader of the Year 2021, an honor bestowed by the Bank of England and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
