Guinness World Records has claimed that Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon crashed their website for two days. This statement came during an announcement that her record for cooking non-stop have been officially recognised by Guinness World Records (GWR).
On Tuesday, Guinness World Records confirmed Baci as the new holder of the longest cooking marathon. This was announced on the official Guinness World Records website.
The post read, “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual)”.
“The 26-year-old (at the time) Nigerian chef began her four-day kitchen stint on Thursday, May 11, and ended on Monday, May 15, cooking over 100 pots of food.”
“Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.”
GWR authorities were not present at the incident, which took place in the affluent neighborhood of Lekki in Lagos, but they later checked CCTV footage.
Baci had apparent indications of physical exertion and received cold compresses on her head and foot massages throughout her breaks. Her vital signs were also examined by a medical assistant.
Her attempt enthralled the nation, with politicians and celebrities flocking to support her.
“Hilda’s cook-a-thon was so popular that our website crashed for two days due to the immense volume of traffic we received from her legion of loyal fans,” GWR said.
