The Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police Force has arraigned four defendants before the Lagos State Special Offences Court for allegedly defrauding a television station, Galaxy TV, of over N16m.
The defendants, Bolanle Fasan, Bernard Nwosu, Omolara Oshin and Judith Ehiwario, were arraigned on seven counts of fraud before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo.
While Fasan was arraigned on seven counts, Nwosu was arraigned on three counts; Oshin and Ehiwario were arraigned on one count each.
However, they pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Following their plea, Emmanuel Jackson, the prosecutor, asked the court for a trial date, adding that the police had concluded the investigation and had five witnesses and documents to prove the allegations against the defendants.
The defence counsel, Nimota Raheem, Augustina Ezeugo, Ahmed Oyekunle and Opeyemi Adeoye, informed the court of the bail applications filed on behalf of their clients.
Justice Taiwo afterwards granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties each in like sum, while ordering them not to travel outside the country.
