A Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Ado- Ekiti on Wednesday, ordered a 50-year-old man, identified as Usman Tajudeen to be remanded in the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre for alleged defilement.
Inspector Monica Ikebuilo, the police prosecutor, had told the court that the defendant allegedly defiled a four-year-old girl on August 21, 2020, in Ikere-Ekiti.
The police prosecutor said, “The defendant and the victim’s parents were neighbors. Adding that when the victim’s mother noticed blood was dripping from the girl’s private part and asked her what happened she confessed that the defendant invited her to his house.
“The offense contravenes Section 31(2) of the Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2012.”
The police prosecutor urged the court to remand Tajudeen in the correctional center pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The court, however, did not take the plea of the defendant.
Chief Magistrate Adefumike Anoma adjourned the case to 18 September for mention.
