A 43 YEAR OLD SWEDISH-NIGERIAN JAILED FOR CHILD TRAFFICKING IN AKWA-IBOM

A Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has sentenced a Swedish-Nigerian woman,  named Stephany Isaksson, to four years jail term for child trafficking in Akwa Ibom State.

The woman who is aged  43, was jailed on two counts of receiving an 18-month-old baby by means of fraud from one Uduak who is currently on the run an offense which contrary to section 13(2)(b) of trafficking in person prohibition Enforcement and Administration Act 2015 and for obtaining the possession of the baby, knowing that the baby will be subject to exploitation contrary to section 21 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act.

Isaksson n who hails from  Mbiayon in Uruan LGA of Akwa Ibom State was said to have been arrested by the Swedish Embassy when she went to obtain papers for the child.

The convict was handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons in 2018 for prosecution.

Delivering the judgment on Charge Number, FHC/UY/108C/2019, Justice Fatun Riman, on Count one, sentenced the convict to a term of two years or a fine of 250,000.

The sentence will run concurrently he added.
