A 65-year-old man, identified as Uchechukwu Nweke, in Amanuke, in the Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has allegedly killed his wife and son.
NEWSNAIJA learned that after killing his family members, Nweke allegedly set his house ablaze and shot himself dead.
The incident happened around 3 am on Thursday.
Nweke, who is a hunter, was reported to have visited a herbalist in the area recently, complaining of poor hunting.
A source said “a native doctor he consulted recently assured him of good prospects in his hunting.
“We didn’t expect this to happen to him and his family. It’s quite unfortunate and painful,” the source added.
Haruna Mohammed, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.
Mohammed, said, “On Thursday, there was a report from the vigilante chairman in Amunike, in the Awka North LGA of Anambra State that on the same date at about 3 am, a hunter, Uchechukwu Nweke, 65, of the same address, allegedly shot his wife, Patricia Nweke, 55, with a single-barrelled gun and also burnt his house along with his son named Obinna Nweke, 29, in circumstances yet to be ascertained. The suspect equally shot himself using the same gun.”
