A 27-year-old man, identified as Kolofo Adejo, by a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday, for allegedly robbing a student of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti, of her valuables.
NEWSNAIJA learned Adejo was charged by the police with armed robbery.
The police prosecutor, Bamikole Olasunkanmi, claimed that the defendant committed the offence on August 4, 2021, in the Ado Ekiti Magisterial District.
Olasunkanmi said, “The defendant was reasonably suspected to have robbed one Falodun Grace, a student of BOUEST, of her phone and school fees on August 4, 2021, at Ikere Ekiti.
“The offence is contrary to Section 1(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap.398 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990.”
He urged the court to remand the defendant pending the issuance of legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
The magistrate, Abdulhameen Lawal, ordered the remand of the defendant in a custodial centre.
The matter has been adjourned till September 21, 2021.
