21 death has been confirmed in the collapse of a three-story church building identified as the Church of Prosperity in eastern Ghana rescue officials said on Friday, as more bodies were pulled from the rubble.
The National Disaster Management Organization said the deceased include 12 women and nine men.
The Organisation also said eight people had been rescued alive at the scene since rescue workers began combing the disaster site.
Newsnaija learned the Church collapsed Tuesday in the town of Akyem Batabi just after worshippers had concluded a prayer meeting.
A survivor told local media that 60 people were inside the building when it collapsed.
However, the causes of the accident are still unknown but the church’s founder, known as Prophet Isaac Ofori, popularly known as Akoa Isaac, was assisting police with its investigation.
