2022 Grammy Awards: New Date And Location Announced

2022 Grammy Awards; New Date And Location Released

The show must go on!

The organizers of the 2022 Grammy Awards, The Recording Academy, has announced a new date and location for the controversial awards show after having to postpone the ceremony due to the ongoing Omicron variant surge.

On Tuesday 18th January 2022, the organizers confirmed that the awards ceremony will take place on 3rd April 2022, at the  MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.  Previously the show was set to take place in Los Angeles, but organizers have since settled on the 17,000-seat arena, with comedian and commentator Trevor Noah working as the evening’s lead entertainer.

The awards was postponed for the second year in a row; in 2021, a California-based COVID spike pushed the event to March 14th, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The evening featured numerous performances to compensate for the lack of an audience, but this time they’re “hoping to have a live show with an audience to match.”

Jon Batiste is the most nominated artist in 2022, coming in at eleven nods, and Justin BieberDoja Cat, and H.E.R. are all tied for second with a total of 8 each. Some Nigerians nominated include Wizkid bagging two nominations for Essence and Made In Lagos album. Femi and Made Kuti were also nominated under Best Global Music Album category.
